Okay, that felt weird. Among my downloads, there was this complete 172 pictures long tank from early April that I had completely forgotten about.
Normally, when it’s a complete manga, I put it on the very top of my to-share pile, you know O_o
Well, anyway, there we are, with a delay, here it comes ^^
The entire volume is a single story, about how a group of youngsters work together to save an old bathhouse from closing down, and become sexbuddies along the way. We quickly take the “free and open sex buffet” route, but there’s also a cuter side, with a tsundere girl finally confessing and entering a mutual love relation, which is always nice.
Graphically, this is 99.9% uncensored (good luck finding the censorship bars 
), and it’s nice easy go lucky vaginal sex. However, the images were too low res (1205 px high) and I felt the women all had the same basic facial structure, with just details like the haircut changing from one person to the other, I guess it’s the mangaka’s own style.

I allowed myself to very slightly recompress the images before sharing. You won’t notice any difference with the naked eye, but now it’s only 54 MB instead of 98 MB =)

Question: In your xnview resizing guide you set the quality to 86%. Does it really make any real difference in MB if you just use 100%?
I’ve been doing some experiments, OBVIOUSLY it makes a difference. For a 400mb tank, 86% reduced it to 90mb and 100% reduced it to 180mb. Although I was also converting pngs to jpgs.
It’s been empirically chosen.
I picked pictures in which the artefacts from excessive compression were very visible (full-colour images with multiple shadings from one tint of red into another, subtles shades of black turning into grey, ben-day dot mattes), and toyed around until the images looked just the same after they had been recompressed even if you zoomed in and quickly switched between the before and after pics.
After I settled for a percentage, I looked at the numbers and was reassured, yeah, it offered satisfying size gains =)
